Walking Through Storms
Healing Retreats for Parents
Parents love and serve their children through all seasons, and all families have storms to weather.
During a crisis in parenting, parents do all that they can to protect and care for their children. Parents often cannot care for themselves during times like this.
Furthermore, our experience as parents can lead to broken hearts wounded with guilt, shame, isolation, discouragement, confusion, and hopelessness.
Walking Through Storms retreats provide a space for parents to rest and walk with Jesus through the storm.
Walking Through Storms Retreats provide:
A space of rest and time to receive loving care from our team and the Holy Spirit
Encouragement, understanding, and compassion
A deeper understanding of how to walk through the storms of family life with Jesus and Mary.
Catholic understanding of suffering
Tools to grow in prayer
Connection with other parents facing difficult times
Walking Through Storms Retreats are for parents who are in the middle of a challenging season or healing from one.
Parents cannot always go on retreat in the middle of the storm as they are attending the needs of their families. Often parents will need to attend to their own spiritual needs and healing once the worst part of the storm has passed.
Parents are invited to attend a Walking Through Storms Retreat at whatever time is best for their families and whenever they feel stirred to receive the healing mercy of Jesus.
This might be in the middle of the crisis, when the height of the storm has passed, or even years after the challenging season.
Walking Through Storms Retreats are for parents who are experiencing or have experienced any of the following in their families:
Substance Abuse or Addiction
Abuse
Identity Confusion
Mental Health Challenges
Medical Diagnosis
Criminal Activity
Relationship Strain
Authority Opposition
Children Who Have Left the Faith
Any other circumstances in family life from which parents need healing
Spiritual Accompaniment
Walking Through Storms Retreats are led by Sanctus directors Jason and Rebecca Burdullis. Jason and Rebecca were married in 2003 and have six children together. They have homeschooled their children since 2010. They have walked through many storms in parenting together and can offer support, encouragement, and wisdom to parents.
Rebecca is a certified catechist, trained prayer minister, and is currently earning her Masters in Theology.
Walking Through Storms Retreats provide spiritual accompaniment from a Catholic perspective.
Retreats are not led by counselors or therapists. They do not take the place of therapy, counseling, or professional help.
Walking Through Storms retreats are scheduled as needed.
If you would like to attend or your parish would like to host a Walking Through Storms retreat, please contact Sanctus director, Rebecca Burdullis.
